March 10th, 2011 0630 Hours (6:30AM PST)
Michael sat upright in bed lazily as the alarm clock began to buzz it's morning tune, the local news station KROQ 56.7.
This is KRAQ 57.7 comin at you live from downtown LA. It's another hot, beautiful morning here in the month of March. HEY! check this out, just comin down from the news desk tomorrow we will be seeing some crazy meteor activity in the area, more on this late, but first a little Space Oddity by David Bowie.
Michael slammed his hand down on the buzzer that sometimes stuck and rolled over and looked at his wife. He had been married to the beautiful women for a year now and was still loving every minute of it. It wasn't every day you could wake up to the same woman every day and not get bored. He was truly blessed. He kissed her head and stood. Wearing only his white boxer shorts he walked into the kitchen and started the shower.
Once done with his shower he brushed his teeth, shaved, and combed his hair. He walked back into the bedroom, wiggly his toes on the red carpet and opened the closet. He started to put on his LAPD uniform as he was ready to get some coffee and breakfast. He looked in the mirror and and looked down at his newly stitched Sergeant patch he got the week before.
"Sergeant Turner of the LAPD....I like the sound of that. How about you honey?" he looked back and then double took at his still sleeping wife. He tossed a pillow lightly at her, "Wake up, lazy, I want some breakfast." he laughed as he moved into the kitchen.

Christine groaned as she was brutally awakened by a flying pillow, feeling it hit her square in the head. Exhausted from the night before, she wasn't quite in the mood to make him breakfast. "Make your own..." She murmured from under a layer of curly hair, eyes still closed as she struggled with herself as to whether or not she wanted to get up.
The night before had consisted of writing up a two page article on speculation as to what the new astrological findings might mean. She spent it running from conservatory to conservatory, interviewing researchers and astrologers, hoping for answers. Of course, no one knew what the hell they were talking about.
Finally deciding to pull herself out of bed, she rolled out, fixing the sheets and smoothing them. Simply looking around, she ran her fingers through her hair, sighing. Neither of them seemed to have the time to clean anymore. It was... well... a mess. Deciding he could fix his own breakfast if it came down to it, she started picking up the piles of clothes, laying out the clean ones on the bed and throwing the dirty ones in their baskets.
She knew the day would be long. She had a gut feeling about it. Usually that meant something big was going to happen, or something was going to make her life a living hell. The latter usually was the result.

The coffee pot once again sputtered and shoot. He tapped it once and then a second time and the hot liquid slowly filled up his white LAPD mug. He called into the bedroom from the kitchen, "Hey, honey, were gonna need to get a new coffee pot soon this one is losing it." After his mug was filled and he took a burning sip, he moved on to his eggs which were sizzling in the pan. He used a fork to cut them up and mash them together as he slid the yellow breakfast food off of the black pan and onto his plate. Next the microwave beeped and he removed the back strips from the sheet.
He took a bite, "Perfecto" he smiled as he sat down and began to nibble on the salted eggs. Michael looked up from his plate and into the bedroom, "Hey, honey, you still working on that thing about the meteors?" he asked as he read the headline of the morning newspaper that mentioned the meteors.

Rolling her eyes, Christine walked out to the kitchen, not bothering to get out of her sheer nightgown, "Unfortunately. They've got me doing weather reports when I could be out on the front lines." Shaking out her messy curls, she moved to the table, "There are rumors that Senator Johnson has been having an affair with his senior assistant. Breaking that case could mean..." Pausing to think about it, "It could mean a promotion." Busting things like that were praised in the eyes of her superiors.
Christine sighed and looked to the paper, sighting her article on the front page, "But this... this is just another scare. There's always something like this going on. It's nothing new."

"And a government official having an affair isnt? That gravy train left with Clinton and Edwards a while ago, babe." he laughed as he took another sip of coffee. "Besides don't you wanna start aiming away from gossiping and gossip columns. Jesus, Christine, you did that in High School. Isn't it time to give that up?" he put down the paper and pointed his finger at the headline Meteors to Enter Earths Atmosphere "Mark my words, that is gonna be fuckin news."
Michael stood and moved back into the bedroom and into the closet. Resting on the ground was his safebox. He punched in the six digit combination on the key pad and he heard the locks slowly suck open. Opening the lid he removed his Glock 18 service pistol, his badge, and his wallet. In three motions he slid his pistol into his holster, stuck his badge onto his uniform, and placed his wallet into his back pocket. He was ready for work.

Mocking him by pretending to mouth his words, she rolled her eyes, "It's a bunch of space rocks that are going to dissolve before they even enter the earth's atmosphere. It's not a big deal. Potentially bringing down one of this state's most corrupt Senators... that is a big deal. News worthy. No one cares about this." Picking up the paper, she lifted it up to show him, following him into the bedroom. "This is boring. People these days want excitement." Throwing the folded newsprint to the bed, she moved next to him, looking up into his eyes, "That's all I want for them."
Plus a promotion. She could care less as to what they wanted. All that mattered was them giving her good ratings. She sighed as she leaned back against the wall, really demotivated, "I don't think I'm going in today."

After placing his plate into the sink and running warm water over it to keep the ants away he looked up at his wife, "Christine, we've talked about this. As newly weds we need to both be working. In the long run it will be worth it no doubt, but as of right now you can't just take a day off, I mean do you even have any sick days left?" he asked.

Following behind him, she ran a hand along his back, voice softening, "I do. I haven't used many of them... Mainly because we both need to work. I just... I don't feel like I should go in today. I'll call my boss and see about working from home." Shrugging, she kissed his shoulder, arm wrapping around his waist, "I can type something up here."

Ted smiled as the faintest hint of really knowing what Christine wanted to do. His smiled broadened as he twisted free and turned. He kissed her on the lips and smiled "Well you go ahead and do that, Miss Reporter ma'm" he laughed as he pat her on the head "But the big boss man cop has to protect and serve, one crackhead at a time." he laughed as he walked to the door and opened it up. His police cruiser sat int he driveway. He turned back "Love you, Mrs. Turner." he smiled.

Christine sighed as she watched her husband leave for work. He needed to go. It was only right... She decided to clean up the kitchen while she was there, stacking the dishes and rinsing them individually before putting them in the dishwasher to run. Growing up having to wash them by hand, she was excited to find out they had a dishwasher in their new house when she got married. It made things so much easier.
Taking a deep breath, she grabbed a bottle of water from the fridge and headed for the living area. She needed a day to get her mind off of things. Too much research clouded her creative bubble. Plopping down on the couch, she sighed, picking up the remote and a magazine. Vogue. She'd relax for a little bit. Call her boss in a while...
And before she knew it, she was fast asleep on the couch.
